Maricopa Road
Challenge
Landry-Creedon was tasked with developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to secure state highway designation and widen Maricopa Road to a four-lane divided highway. This project required securing diverse funding for the Maricopa Road upgrade and its placement in the Arizona State Highway System.Strategy
The firm identified that the complex story could be told more effectively to opinion leaders, the public and the State through a grass-roots, non-profit, multi-jurisdictional advocacy organization.Advocacy
Landry-Creedon organized and managed the Maricopa Road Association, a grass-roots, non-profit, multi-jurisdictional advocacy organization, that built and demonstrated on-going strategic support for Maricopa Road improvements.Acting as lead consultant, Landry-Creedon coordinated all community involvement and government support efforts. These efforts included working in a timely and effective manner with the Arizona Congressional Delegation, the Arizona Department of Transportation, Gila River and Ak-Chin Indian Communities, Arizona State Legislature, Maricopa and Pinal Counties and the Maricopa Road Special District.
Results
Landry-Creedon, through the Maricopa Road Association, was successful in securing the passage of state legislation that authorized a special taxing district in Pinal County. That district produced $10 million in local assessments for road improvements.Landry-Creedon, through the Maricopa Road Association, was successful in obtaining state highway designation for Maricopa Road by the Arizona Department of State Transportation Board.
Landry-Creedon, as the lead consultant, orchestrated multi-jurisdictional funding of $50 million in road improvements.
Landry-Creedon successfully worked with its many partners to secure a federal appropriation of $3.5 million for road improvements on Indian Community lands.
